We are having a special event on October 21, 2014. At 6:00 pm we will meet in the Fellowship Hall and enjoy a baked potato supper and will have two speakers. Rusk County Sheriff Jeff Price and Deputy David Roberts will be joining us to speak on the gun violence in Rusk County. Please come and join us for a great meal and informative speakers.

You are invited to join us for the annual Neighborhood Party at 3:30 pm, October 18, 2014. We will meet at the Fairpark Pavilion for our meal, fellowship and music. We then will move to the Fellowship Hall to play bingo. Come and join us for lots of fun, good food, visiting with neighbors and playing games.

AUGUST is the month for re-enrolling in the KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM. Those of you who can, please go the the google KrogerCommunityReward.com and enroll, if you never have, or re-enroll for this program. This allows our church to receive money quarterly from our combined purchases at Kroger. I feel like you all are aware of this program by now, but if you aren’t, please contact me, about any questions you have. The money received (I will get an exact total from last year and send out soon) is usually between $300-500 yearly. This money goes to local mission. And we see that it is used exactly for that ! So, please, take an instruction sheet located in the narthex. This will explain exactly how to enroll or re-enroll. Then, like last year, if you need help, on Sunday, August 17 and 24, Bill and Lsha and Jan will be available after worship to help get you set up for this year’s program.

BETTY ELDER BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES PROJECT———————we are once again gathering school supplies for the whole county community in this school supplies project that Betty Elder and Anne McCrady head up each year. What a great way to help our school children…..talk about a mission !!! There are lists at various stores around town, but basically……….subject notebooks, folders, crayons, glue, rulers, backpacks, pencils, pens, etc.

There are two back to school boxes in our church narthex so you can place your gathered supplies in. These boxes will be out until the deadline date of August 21. On Thursday, August 21, your outreach team will be responsible for taking all our gathered supplies to the Civic Center where they will all be distributed to our needy children on Friday, August 22. So please have your supplies to our church by the morning of August 21. Thanks !!

FRIENDSHIP SUNDAY IS SUNDAY, AUGUST 10…………… We are encouraging each and every member to invite a person or persons to come and worship with us. They can be churched or unchurched………a neighbor in your residential neighborhood, a co-worker or former co-worker, a relative from out of town, a person(s) you just met, your college roommate, your best friend other than a FPC church member, etc…..As you can see, we want to gather a mass of people in our sanctuary to simply worship God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit…..together. That’s it. They will not be asked any questions in worship………….we will all simply worship together!

Then after worship, ALL are invited to the fellowship hall for a fellowship luncheon to honor our guests. Again, they will not be put on the spot about anything. We are asking ALL members to bring a dish of your choosing………main dishes, vegetable dishes, salad dishes, breads, desserts………just like we always do. Your outreach team will be bringing extra dishes in each category to help fill everyone up !
