And there was a storm……

I traveled to Houston on Memorial Day.  The trip was planned, and it was a clear and predictable drive.  Molly and I visited with friends, had dinner together, and afterward traveled to another friend’s home to spend the night.  I hung up clothing that had been packed in a suitcase, and then opened up my smart phone for whatever news and questions I had missed through the travel day.

What?  Storms?  In Henderson?  I had no idea.  Several of you posted information on FaceBook, some sent emails, some texted me.  I looked at pictures, checked in with many of you, and marveled at how ready you were to care for each other.

Then that same storm traveled to Houston, and I realized first-hand how powerful it was.  As I write this, the power has not yet returned to thousands in Henderson.  But love abounds.  Trees have not yet been removed from yards and roofs and streets.  But love abounds.  Businesses, and even churches are not yet able to re-open.  But love abounds, Weather reports anticipate more rain through the coming week, and still love abounds.  Will we get through this?  We will, because the Creator of all the cosmos has designed people who belong to the Covenant, worship the Sovereign One, and take care of their neighbors.

Please tell us how you can help someone else.  Please step up once again and serve our God as you serve us.  Please allow us to know how we can serve you and your family.  It is my honor to walk this journey alongside such wonderful people of God.

Bountiful blessings,

Candice
